Activities

Create a chore jar! Write various chores like doing the dishes, empty the silverware, pick up toys in the loft, etc. on a popsicle stick, Get your kiddos involved! Have them come up with some chore ideas. Color one end of the stick green and the other red. Place all of the sticks in a mason jar with the green face up. Have the kids take turns pulling a stick, doing the chore, and then flip the stick to the red side so you know the chore has been done. For an advanced version of the cleaning jar head over to the tutorial here.

Have a clean up dance party! It’s time to blast some of your favorite music. Turn on the Alexa or music on the tv and have each child take a turn picking a song. Have a total of 5 songs played (should be about 15 mins of cleaning time) Sing, dance, and clean! Make it a fun experience for your kids and yourself.

Make a chore chart for the family. Create a reward system where they can earn stickers or a prize from a treasure box for doing chores consistently for a week. On the Mindfulmazing blog this post is great for tips on how to create a good chore chart.

Cleaning is an essential part of life and should be taught to children at a young age. Having a clean space reduces anxiety, stress, and boosts confidence and self esteem.
